Tandem Skydiving FAQS

Skydive Perris is a family owned business which has been in operation for over 41 years. We average over 100,000 skydives each year and are recognized world-wide as a premier sky diving facility for students. Our facilities are rivaled by no other drop zone in the world. At our sky diving resort we have the larges fleet of aircraft in the nation, a swimming pool, restaurant and full bar, pro shop and gear store, grassy picnic areas, and the largest landing area in Southern California. At Skydive Perris you’ll jump from 12,500ft above the ground with almost a full minute of freefall! We are the premier skydiving center for skydiving Orange County, CA and Los Angeles. Call 1-800-SKYDIVE to make your reservation with us!

As with any adventure sport, sky diving has an element of risk. We minimize this risk by using state-of-the-art training and equipment. At our sky diving school we have an impeccable safety record. Each student parachute is equipped with an automatic activation device which will automatically deploy your parachute for you in the unlikely event that you or your instructor does not. All of our sky diving instructors have undergone rigorous training and certification and all student parachutes are packed under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Rigger supervision. Our staff of full time aircraft mechanics constantly monitor and meticulously maintain our fleet of aircraft. Skydive Perris also strictly adheres to a drug testing program for all of our instructors, pilots, mechanics, videographers and packers. Your safety is our primary concern.

For a tandem skydive you’ll receive a short briefing from your instructor while you are being geared up. You will have ample opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

At Skydive Perris we jump from 12,500ft above the ground. That’s about one minute of freefall!!

Freefall is typically about 120 miles per hour. A person’s weight or body position can alter the speed. Once you’re under an open parachute, your rate of descent decreases to about 10 miles per hour.

Absolutely! Relax and breathe normally, it’s just air up there!

In the unlikely event that the main parachute fails to open properly, there is always a second, or reserve parachute packed in the system which will be used if necessary. On a tandem skydive your tandem instructor will handle this process should it be needed to do so. All main parachutes are packed under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rigger supervision. All reserve parachutes are packed only by FAA certified riggers who have received certification from the FAA to inspect, pack, and repair parachutes. Every reserve parachute is re-packed every 180 days whether they are used or not. Skydive Perris has full time FAA certified riggers on staff.

We use only modern “square” parachutes at Skydive Perris and this type of parachute allows excellent maneuverability and tip-toe landings! On a tandem skydive you and your instructor will land your ‘parachute built for two’ together on our grass landing area.

Skydive Perris is outstanding at accommodating groups! We have very large and spacious aircraft and ample instructional staff and can usually accommodate your wishes to jump as a group. There are sometimes factors that will affect how many people can go in the plane at once so please call us at 1-800-SKYDIVE if you wish to jump as a group and we will do our best to accommodate your wishes!

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing appropriate for the season and tennis, running or skate shoes. No heels or sandals please. We will provide a jumpsuit for you to wear over your clothing for your jump.

You must be at least 18 years of age to make any skydive. Photo ID is required. There is no upper age limit.

For tandem skydiving the weight limit is 240lbs. There are no exceptions and you will be weighed when you arrive.

Please note: There is an additional $25 fee for any tandem student weighing over 220 lbs on our scale, on the day of your jump.

Almost anyone can make a tandem skydive. We have taken people with many different disabilities ranging from amputees to paraplegics. We have some of the most experienced tandem instructors in the field working full time at Skydive Perris. If you have a special requirement call us and we can make your dream of flight a reality!

If you have ear or sinus problems, experience seizures, fainting spells, or have a weak heart you should not be jumping. If you are in any doubt please check with your doctor. A doctors note may be required if you have any kind of medical condition.

Yes, just let your instructor know that you wear them.
