This year, Skydive Perris proudly begins its 40th anniversary of skydiving. Throughout this extraordinary journey, we’ve seen the sport change dramatically in equipment, training, safety procedures, types of skydiving and even the business of running a skydiving center.
As times have changed, we’ve adapted to ensure we continue to be an industry leader and one of the premier skydiving centers in the world. In the last few years, we have encountered a challenge that we can’t make sense of, the daily deal: Groupon, LivingSocial, and others.
As consumers ourselves, we love receiving value that’s less hurtful to our pocketbooks and wallets. We occasionally offer Groupons for our indoor skydiving experience, but it’s with our skydiving operation where we’re unable to make the numbers work.
We’re addressing this because we receive many inquiries asking if we are or will be offering a daily deal. Unless things change dramatically within the landscape of daily deals, we probably won’t offer one in the near future. The reason? Running a skydiving center to the standard we wish to operate, costs a lot of money.
Skydive Perris is unique from more than 95% of skydiving operators in the world in that we’re a skydiving resort equipped with the very best staff, equipment, aircraft, and facilities. This is stated with humility and is the opinion of skydivers who travel from all corners of the globe to learn and train with us. If you’re a skydiver, Skydive Perris is the destination to help take your skills to the next level. If you’re a first-time jumper, you can feel confident knowing that we’ve spared no expense to ensure our guests have the best experience possible.
As a skydiving center, our vision for delivering a great experience is more than just jumping from a plane. Our goal is to exceed the expectations of our guests. This begins with having a fleet of eight twin-engine aircraft with a team of full-time mechanics and pilots, facilities unmatched in Southern California (and the world for that matter) including the Bomb Shelter Sports Bar and Grill, pool and on-site wind tunnel. A major point of difference is our airport. Our airport is privately owned and maintained by us allowing for clear airspace and hundreds of acres of open land. This is a skydiving luxury as we don’t have to negotiate around other aircraft in the air or with houses and highways on the ground. Most importantly, our professional staff not only have great skydiving skills and experience but also love to skydive and share the dream of flight with our guests.
Anything aviation-based is expensive and the more wear and tear equipment receives, the more maintenance it needs. To manage the scale of more customers at lower profit margins with higher maintenance costs is not the vision we have for running a sustainable business into the future. Our goal is to continue to be an industry leader and for that to happen, it’s imperative we keep the best people and maintain the standards that have brought us to this point.
To maintain our business, we need customers and we’ve seen that offering a Groupon does bring an influx of guests through the door, but we also believe that deep discounting does come at a great cost.
To our potential guests, we invite you to skydive with us with the expectation that you will experience more than what it is like to skydive. You will be introduced to the international sport of skydiving and an incredible community of skydivers at a world renowned facility. We hope to see you soon!
