Night Jumps
Experienced
November 21 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Book your night kit and more info on perrisorganizers.com
This is an “experienced skydivers only” event. Whether it’s your very first night jump (beer!) or you just want to do it again, this is one you don’t want to miss.
There will be a night briefing starting at 6 PM before jumping — attendance is mandatory. Two night jumps can be used as part of the qualifications required for your D license. Note: a B license is required to jump, and you must make a jump at Perris during the day on the day of the event.
Conditions are on our side this year: the sun sets at 4:43 PM, and a 89%-lit waxing gibbous moon will already be up — climbing toward its highest point around 9 PM — so there’s plenty of moonlight for the jumps.
Night jump requirements
- Make a jump at Perris during the day on the day of the event
- Strobe light visible for three statute miles
- Chem lights, 4″ or 6″, red & green (2–3 of each)
- Check in with manifest immediately after your jump, before you pack
Recommendations
- Clear goggles or visor (non-tinted)
- Light-colored jumpsuit
- Cell phone (for off-DZ landings)
- Small flashlight (to check your canopy)
- Lighted altimeter — or a small chem light to illuminate it
- Whistle to warn other jumpers under canopy, or to help rescuers locate a lost or injured jumper
- If you’ve been jumping during the day, turn your AAD off and back on just before the night jumps — AADs may shut off automatically if they’ve reached the end of their cycle
- Turn your AAD off again after you’re done for the night so it doesn’t shut off mid-day tomorrow (Cypres and Vigil AADs automatically power down after 14 hours)
